Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for a spray tan?

A: Shower, shave, and exfoliate. This is to ensure the skin is prepared for the spray tan. Do NOT wear ANY lotion or makeup for your visit!

What do I wear?
A: During: No clothing is required or recommended. After: Loose, dark, and breathable clothing is suggested (i.e., Do not wear your tightest white silk dress).
How long does a spray tan last?
A: About 4–7 days depending on how well you take care of it! (The more you shower, shave, swim, etc., the more it will fade.)
Any suggestions to help it last longer?
A: Keep shaving to a minimum, no exfoliating, do not use soap or lotions with a lot of sulfates, mineral oils, or alcohols as they strip the tan quicker (i.e., Bath & Body Works and Victoria Secret products usually aren’t a good idea). The Tan Company sells products such as shower gels and daily tan extending lotions that will not strip or block the tan from progressing.
What kind of packages can I purchase for spray tanning?
A: HD Tan offers packages from sessions to monthly memberships! Please contact your local salon for specific pricing and current deals!
How can I get my spray tan off when it starts fading?
A: Try using a good exfoliate with a wash cloth for extra scrubbing affect! Sometimes letting the soap sit on the skin for a couple minutes prior to scrubbing helps! The Tan Company also has exfoliating towels on sale in store that work really well in aiding to get the rest of the tan off the skin.
Do I need an appointment for my spray tan?
A: No, the only appointments necessary are if you would like a custom spray (a person to spray you personally).
What kind of spray tan do you use?
A: We have Mystic Tan booths. These booths can warm the cartridge, warm the space, and dry you after each spray! A cartridge based off your choice of color is opened right before the session so the oxidation process doesn’t start prior! (This makes for a fresh product for our clients each time!)
